The Rim Trail begins at the West Mancos Overlook adjacent to Transfer Campground and terminates inside Chicken Creek Canyon at the Chicken Creek Trail. As the name suggests, the trail skirts the west rim of the West Mancos canyon. The trail then crosses FS 561 at which point it also becomes a wider motorized route. After crossing a cattle guard, the trail takes a gradual descent in Chicken Creek Canyon to merge with Chicken Creek Trail after crossing the creek. From here, you can make a loop by heading north on Chicken Creek Trail to return to Transfer CG. The Rim trail has a high degree of exposure. Use caution if riding a horse between FS561 and the West Mancos Overlook.
