  5. Email Chicken Creek Trail System Adoption Manager to confirm you’ve done all these steps.
  6. Arrange for some training in trail maintenance:
    1. Review our training page for a very brief overview (best if you have some trail work experience). You can borrow some training materials if you'd like, just email us to request them.
    2. If you are inexperienced with trail maintenance we encourage you to take the extra time to view this online training hosted by Volunteers for Outdoor Colorado. There is a $30 fee for this online course.
  7. Do you need to borrow tools or training materials? We have some that you can check out for the summer. Arrange pickup by emailing our Chicken Creek Trail System Adoption Manager.
At the start of each day of trail work

  1. Review paperwork.
  2. All volunteers must sign the JHA once per season. If you have a new volunteer joining you who hasn’t signed the JHA yet, make sure they sign it.
  3. EVERYONE participating for the day needs to sign the Group Volunteer Sign-up Form each time you head out
  4. Document major trail issues with Survey123 app.
  5. BE SAFE!
  6. HAVE FUN!
After each day of trail work

  1. Take a photo of Group Volunteer Sign-up form and email it to Chicken Creek Trail System Adoption Manager.
  2. Print the MTG Trail Work Report Form, fill it out, take a photo of it & email it to MTG. Be sure to include:
    1. Total hours volunteered (including travel time)
    2. Names and number of people volunteering
    3. Brief description of work completed
    4. Photos that we can post online
    5. Any interesting or fun stories that we can share online
  3. Send completed Survey123 data from outbox, if applicable.
At the end of your trail work season

  1. Email our Chicken Creek Trail System Adoption Manager a photo of the signed JHA with a signature from everyone who has volunteered with you this season.
  2. Send us your feedback! We'd love to hear from you with ideas about how to make our adoption program even better next year.

Thank you for your help! MTG, the Forest Service and the Chicken Creek System all thank you! :)
