The Menefee Mountain Wilderness Study Area is most easily accessed at the top of the Mancos hill (5 miles east of Mancos south of US160. There is a unmarked unmarked gravel road that immediately crosses a cattleguard. Stay right to enter the BLM parcel. There is very limited parking just beyond the gate. This area does not currently have developed single track trails. Off road travel is limited to non-mechanized use. There is a dirt road that you can take to get further back into the parcel. It makes for a good views of the La Platas, the Town of Mancos , Mesa Verde, and Sleeping Ute Mountain. The grade of the road can be steep at times especially as you approach the radio towers.
