Trails at Mancos State Park are great! If you park along Forest Service Road 561 (Transfer Rd) you can access the Muleshoe Loop. If you park inside Mancos State Park (fee required) you can begin at the Black Bear trailhead or the Mountain Lion trailhead. All of these trails are open to travel by foot, horse, bike, and skis or snowshoes in winter. Pets are allowed. They are all at about 7800' in elevation and none are ADA accessible.
Muleshoe Trail
This fun and easy trail begins on Forest Road 561 (Transfer Rd.) and connects to the Mancos State Park trail system. Note that a user fee is required to hike the Mancos State Park trails (below). You can use the Muleshoe Trail to access the Mancos Spur Trail (Chicken Creek segment) and continue 20+ miles up into the high La Platas!
Black Bear Trail
This moderate trail connects two USFS trails (Chicken Creek Trail and the Colorado Trail), as well as two other in-park trails, providing a variety of distance and difficulty options.

Mountain Lion Trail
This easy trail is accessed from the Quarry Trailhead. At the end of the .6-mile trail, the visitor has 3 options: continue around the Black Bear Loop, turn onto the Black Bear Trail or return to the Quarry Trailhead.
