This area is commonly accessed by the S. Ramparts Rd/FS529 and the N. Ramparts Rd/FS331 .
From FS529:
The trail begins as a gradual climb through meadows and gambel oak before entering a aspen grove.
When you approach the meadow pictured at the top of the page, look for a faint trail on your left heading down into Box Canyon. There is no trail signage. The descent into Box Canyon is steep and loose. Once at the bottom, you can cross the river using the bridge and hop on the Transfer Trail or hike up the Box Canyon Trail TH. You can also head uphill towards Gray Beal Spring on the Box Canyon Trail.
