FREE TRAIL MAINTENANCE
TRAINING OPPORTUNITY

FOR TRAIL ADOPTERS

May 22, 2021

sign up now - limited space available

MTG is offering a free Trail Adopter & Trail Maintenance Training in partnership with Volunteers for Outdoor Colorado’s Outdoor Stewardship Institute (OSI). The exponential rise in public land visitation during COVID-19 has taken a toll on trails in Southwest Colorado. We need your help to care for the trails you love. By participating in this course, you’ll learn how to maintain, and restore your favorite trails on your own or with a small team.

Gain valuable skills in trail maintenance on us! If you are interested in adopting a segment of the Mancos Spur Trail but don't have much experience with trail work, this workshop is for you. The value of this training is $200 if purchased directly from VOC, but as an MTG Trail Adopter you have the opportunity to take it for free. This training is appropriate for all skill and interest levels.

Space is limited, so we encourage you to sign up soon! Topics include:

  • How to assess the maintenance needs of multi-use trails.
  • The fundamental skills in trail, tread, and corridor maintenance;
  • How to maintain drainage infrastructure such as knicks, swales and drainage dips;
  • Accomplishment reporting, risk management, and tool safety.

This training is free. MTG asks for a $20 deposit that is returned upon completion of the training. Sign up today to receive:

  • Access to online coursework
  • Attendance at the field training on Saturday, May 22 near Mancos . This is a great opportunity to meet fellow outdoor stewards! Post-training refreshments will be provided
  • Take-home materials to reference on the trail and continue your learning

VOC has created this special link for MTG volunteers only to sign up for this training. Please contact Dan Williams at dan@voc.org with any questions. With your help, we can expand our ability to take care of trails throughout southwest Colorado.
